Elakala Falls is in Blackwater Falls State Park near Davis, West Virginia. This waterfall is the result of Shay Run tumbling into the Blackwater Gorge. The gorge is probably around 200 feet deep here, but the creek descends this in many different plunges. Elakala Falls is technically a series of four waterfalls; however, the first waterfall is the only one you can see from this trail and is 35 feet tall.

Another popular spot to photography at Blackwater Falls State Park is Elakala Falls. Sadly I didn’t get a chance to personally visit so I am sharing my friend Zack’s photo. To get to Elakala Falls you’ll need to start at the Elakala Falls trail which is only a 0.2 mile hike to the falls from the parking lot. No matter how often we see them (or even write about them), waterfalls are always a favorite. Maybe it’s the crash of the water as it thunders down from "Hidden Gem" Elakala Falls is a picturesque and alluring wonder. Located in Blackwater Falls State Park, this hidden gem is often overlooked by the parks namesake waterfall.
